mixing summer and winter

our essentials
when summer meets winter

THE JEAN
it is still a good basic!  there is a cut out there for everyone but it may take a few mistakes to find the one for you.  AND for the woman who is never going to wear blue denim you can opt for black.
consider:  Lee, Citizen, Seven for all Mankind, NYDJ,  Levis, Chicos

the t - shirt

white OR black
again find one that has a neck and sleeve option for you
be prepared to discard if white gets a bit tired or black fades a bit
consider:  Vince, J Crew, Gap, Target

via

basic black
always -  the black dress -  especially one that transitions from day to night.  how much you want to reveal is up to you but you might consider adding a belt or unusual jacket.  also consider a new blush or lipstick color .  another choice is a gemstone earring to brighten your face ( it doesn't have be Chanel
pearls ).  buy it and REALLY wear it
consider : St John classic ( above ), Magaschoni, Laundry, Rag & Bone, Nanette Lepore

via

THE white blouse/shirt
iron or no iron, silk or poly, find one that you can wear over, under, tucked in or loose
consider: Chicos, Burberry, Brooks Bros., J Crew, Facconable

the fall coat
baby it could be chilly and you can still look fabulous
we loved this oyster white Ann Taylor cashmere.  cashmere is a wonderful warm choice for those who don't want the weight and the shorter coat length makes driving possible. maybe try an exceptionally bright color to make a statement during gray cold days.
consider: Anthropologie, Hermes ( if ....), Bruno Cucinelli

the black shoe
a pump or an ankle boot, you decide. suede or calf leather up to you,  but always invest in fit and quality.  your happiness level increases dramatically if your shoes don't pinch.
consider: Weitzman, Prada, Bruno Magli, Clergerie

black blazer
but not so traditional, try a new shape, new buttons, different fabric, pattern or lining.
consider: Pink Tartan ( above )

perhaps a nonessential but oh so worth the splurge
Manolos

Kate Spade hot red wallet

Cartier evening bag, something unusual to carry you beyond boring

the comfy casual oversized cardigan
this is Chicos

gray cashmere hoody to go over and then under as temps drop
add a classic paid cashmere, maybe his will do
a pair of go anywhere boots

remembering L' Wren Scott

 April 28, 1964 -  March 17, 2014,

L' Wren's Lula handbag

from her Barney's interview in 2011...
"A warm and talkative L'Wren Scott was very excited to show off her new Lula line of super-luxe, elegantly structured and thoughtfully practical bags (priced between $1890 for a clutch and $20,500 for an exotic skin handbag) handmade from smooth leathers and plush exotic skins. "It's named after my mother," explained L'Wren in regards to the inspiration behind Lula. "She always had a very chic and sleek bag and it always made a sound. Every time she would come home, I would hear the noise of the bag sitting down and the bag closing."

" L'Wren took the time to chat with the bloggers and share her thoughts on design and Lula, deflect inquiries about a hush-hush project that she's working on, joining Twitter (@lwrenscott) and dressing Oprah. (By the way, if you're wondering which Lula bag rings in at $20,500? It's the large plush croc style that L'Wren carried to the breakfast.)"
