sensuous steal

Designer Finds says thank you to The Frist for bringing the Art Deco Automobiles Exhibit to Nashville and sharing a touch of elegance.  We are thinking about shiny steel, gleaming chrome and polished color.

SENSUOUS STEAL
Designer Finds

Armani Jacket $98. Leah Rose $82

This jacket is in the new fall collection and we added the skirt from summer... so chic.  Don't put away your summer pieces too soon--just add a jacket and a boot.  You could wear this day or night.

This deco-style bracelet is simply... stunning!

Nicole Miller dress $200

Feel daring?  For those of you who love a leather jacket we suggest wearing it with a cocktail dress or formal.  The black dress is Nicole Miller (currently in the shop) and the pearls are our own!

ALL THAT GLITTERS

"Perfectly now and yet enraptured by a strong nostalgia for the past, Chanel’s fall 2013 makeup look is one every party girl will want to add to her arsenal of show-stopping beauty tricks. Eyes were flecked by pieces of glitter that not only lined the lid but clung gently to the eyelashes like shimmering fallen snow. Lead makeup artist Peter Philips made sure the look was one that caught the light from every angle, and caught everyone’s attention in the process."
"For the eyes: the focus here is obviously on the sparkling metallic glitter that clusters across the top lid and lashes. Peter Philips and the Chanel team used makeup glue to carefully stick chunky pieces of silver and gold glitter to the top lid.
First, dot the glitter pieces along the top lash line – using a cotton-tip to align them in place as you see fit – and then to complete the Chanel look add some pieces to the ends of the lashes."

Prada silver sequin sweater with zippers on the cuffs.  Lovely Bespoke wide legged trousers.  Wonderful for that first chilly night and there will be one.

Why not end the evening with a delightful stroll next door to Union Station?  Prohibition is over, so sashay over for a "Capone" cocktail. In a different mood?  Try the fresh soft pretzels at the Flying Saucer in the old Union Station "baggage room."

introduction

This is our first Blog posting and we are very excited to have another way of presenting our "finds" to you.  We really could not do this without all of you who provide the beautiful clothing and wonderful style examples.  We hope you enjoy following us, as we are looking forward to this adventure!

Designer Finds has been "putting-it-all-together" for years!  In fact, we have collectively over 40 years of fashion retail experience.

While we each have at least one element that is our "style", our image,  that defines us...

We inspire one another to reinterpret our looks.  We also arch our brows, shake our heads and often laugh when that new look just doesn't work!  On occasion we have all shown up wearing jeans or the same color blouses, but we never EVER look the same.  Below we share how we style our "signature" pieces.

We added:
This short flare jacket with wooden buttons (she likes a little dazzle), so the gold/bronze sheen is just enough.  Be sure to look at Claire Danes wearing a gold/bronze trench (with wooden buttons) on the cover of Vogue Aug. 2013.

We added:
A Tory flirty silk blouse for that touch of "dressy" and the tassels are delightful.  This is the go to blouse to wear to work after a sleepless night with the baby.

We added:
Let's face it, what we could really add to pearls and Hermes is that other all-time classic... a bit of Chanel!

caroline

We added:
Something oh so "haute" for this fashionista who can be seen all about town.

janet

We added:
J. Crew stoplight red coat because we knew she would pick an Armani gray or black blazer.  And the color looks so wonderful for a change.

hayden

We added:
This rocking party dress to wear to a concert perhaps to hear Twentyone Pilots, Fallout Boy and Panic at the Disco in Memphis.

julia

We added:
For the gal who is literally always on the run... she could enter a high heel marathon!

courtney

We added
A silky feminine fall treat that goes with her favorite "giraffe."

We believe that one of the wonderful elements of shopping consignment is being able to find and afford a new twist to your style.  Why resist a little change?  Try it on!  We do!  Find someone to tell you "it's time for something different."  Someone to say: 'too tight," "too short," "too hoochie," "your bum looks flat," "you look a bit circular!"  Find that friend or that sales person who will tell you the truth and help explore the new you!  We encourage each other to explore fashion, and have a little fun while keeping it classy.  Why take your style too seriously?  A change of a dress could also lead to a new place to go!   We hope that our blog will inspire you to explore life.

It is 6pm and we are off to one of our favorites to celebrate our first official blog post!

"While out-of-towners hit the Broadway honky-tonks, Nashville locals belly up to this speakeasy hangout on Division Street.  The 30-stool bar retains a hush-hush, Gatsby-and-Governor sophistication, and savvy bartenders stir and shake in Capone-era getups.  Try the Juliet and Romeo for slow sipping underneath the vintage chandeliers.
