back to school: students and teachers

Harry, Hermione, and Ron back at school.
Some of our children think Sewanee the University of the South looks like Hogwarts.  In the Designer Finds neighborhood Ensworth Elementary School at night looks very similar.

The French expression "Bon chic, bon genre" describes the conservative, elegantly dressed look of the upper middle class (well-off bourgeoisie) and their air of respectability. A modern tastefulness and moderate luxury, but not to the extent of "tres elegant haute couture." (very elegant top handmade clothing) and generally more sophisticate than the American version of "preppy."http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=BCBG

One of the best things about consignment shopping is the affordability to pick up a luxury item without the full price anxiety and mix it up.  We love a bit of French chic mixed with a bit of that Southern flair and charm.

Prep = Chic " our way"

ALICE + OLIVIA SHORTS       COLE HAAN BOOTS
You can always wear dark tights if your legs get cold and it will still be darling. The glittery buttons dress up the traditional cardigan.
COLE HAAN TARTAN FLATS.   RED COACH WRISTLET.
Great for a date, Starbucks with the girls or late night movie.
J.CREW CORDUROY JACKET WITH PLAID UNDER COLLAR.
NSEW GRAY FLANNEL  BAG.
You could wear anything with this jacket: jeans, shirt and sweatshirt.  Perfect for knocking around the campus.
GLEN PLAID BALLET FLATS.
We did not all agree on these but nothing looks too preppy with shorts and good looking legs.

TORY BURCH IN PLAID: Great option for teachers who don't spend Friday nights reading students' papers.

YOUTH ART PROJECTS IN NASHVILLE
We were at the Frist museum this weekend, fyi 18 years and younger FREE admission, and saw the creative art project photos by the teenagers who were influenced by the current exhibit of Vik Muniz using landfill material.  Wonderful seeing the interfacing of students with current exhibits.
We also read about this project.

Photo of child authors
Barrel of Monkeys is a Chicago Public School project, with an ensemble of actors and musicians who adapt the childrens' stories into a variety show performed for the Chicago schools.  This year there were 6000 stories.
Wouldn't this be a wonderful way to unite Nashville talent and Metro schools.  Please read this and pass it on you never no who might get behind this project.
